How to treat your hair!

Hair is so important, especially as a women, but how often do we just do a quick wash and let it air dry and then tie it up?

Not that by doing this is a bad thing, but we need to look after the hair we have and give it some TLC. First, you need to look at what type of hair you have before you can treat it. For different hair types, different treatments apply. Let’s see shall we:

Dry or damaged hair

Olive oil: Extra Virgin Oil provides the best results and helps with nourishing and strengthening damaged hair. It can also be mixed with other ingredients such as mashed-up avocado or banana to make a nice smooth mask. Wrap either a warm towel or a plastic bag over your hair and leave for 20 minutes, then rinse.

Coconut Oil: I think everyone knows this one. Hair really soaks up the coconut oil and nourishes the roots. Coconut oil is super good for all parts of your body so of course it would be for your hair as well. Melt coconut oil and apply to dry hair. Leave in for 20 minutes and wash out.

Oily hair

Apple cider vinegar: Don’t let the smell put you off. This stuff really can put the bounce back into your hair! It also regulates the pH of the scalp so it's good for those of you who get dandruff. How to use it? Just add 4tbsp to other ingredients of your choice (like avo, banana or mayo). Alternatively, it can also be used alone as a rinse by diluting 1 part vinegar to 2/3 parts water. It is inexpensive and can be found in any grocery store.

Baking soda: Baking soda is super effective as it removes build-up of cosmetic products and grease (as well as dirt). Just add a tablespoon to yoghurt or mayo.

Lemon juice: Lemon juice closes the pores on your scalp, reducing oil production. So for peeps with oily hair, this is for you, however, lemon juice can lighten your hair if you use too much and if you use it regularly, so be careful and be warned!

Combination hair

Baking soda and yoghurt: As mentioned, baking soda loosens any dirt, grease or build up from the hair and scalp, while the yoghurt would ensure that the hair receives all the nutrients and moisture it needs. Try mixing a teaspoon of baking soda into two tablespoons of yoghurt.

Try give your hair a mask once a week, I promise it will help those bad hair days ;)
